Named after the Brazilian flag, the Philodendron Brasil  is surprisingly easy to care for.

It can survive in low light conditions but the Brasil does best in medium to bright indirect light. Not too much direct sunlight.

FERN

Ferns are great houseplants for indoor vertical gardens. Ferns are easy to grow and they cover the area quickly. Ferns will generally grow downward, so you’ll need to grow other covering plants with them too.

This plant also does well in PlantWallBox as they need well-draining conditions or their roots don’t do well if constantly wet. These adaptable plants generally need a little extra moisture so water once a week and mist on occasion.  Bright, indirect light is ideal.

MARANTA (Prayer Plant)

Maranta Red is also called “Prayer Plant” due to its moving leaves! This indoor tropical plant will respond to light and move its leaves up at night as “praying to the heavens”

Water once a week. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light. Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Not suited for intense, direct sun.

Marantas can be sensitive to hard tap water.

CALATHEA

Thrives in medium to bright indirect light, but can tolerate low indirect light.

Water once a week. Expect to water more often in brighter light and less often in lower light. Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Not suited for intense, direct sun.

TRADESCANTIA ZEBRINA (Wandering jew)

These plants don’t like their soil to be completely dry for too long. So remind yourself to water regularly or the leaves will turn brown, and shrivel up if the humidity is too low.
At the same time, they don’t like to be sitting in soaking wet soil for too long. This means it’s great for PlantWallBox. Especially because this plant does not like to be watered from the top but from the soil which PlantWallBox provides. Do not mist this plant.
Wandering jew plants do best in bright, but indirect sunlight. Not a starter plant.

STROMANTHE

Stromanthe is an exotic plant that also does well in PlantWallBox as they need well-draining conditions or their roots can rot.

Your Stromathe loves a humid environment, so feel free to mist every day.

The more indirect light the plant receives, the more variegation you will see on the leaves. Never expose it to direct sunlight–it will scorch the leaves.

HERBS

Plant a PlantWallBox full of herbs and you will have not only a decorative but functional addition to your home. And the wonderful smell! Choose herbs that mature fairly quickly and don’t produce long roots. If your wall is in low light, consider mint or lemon balm. Basil, chives, purslane, and parsley do well in partial shade while herbs like sage, thyme, and cilantro thrive in bright sunlight. Water once a week.

SUCCULENTS

Succulents are excellent plants for vertical gardens due to their incredible adaptability and resistance. These plants do not need alot of water and thrive in well-drained conditions. Water once every 2-3 months.
